Our Team
ERISA firm with over 40+ years combined experience representing individuals and insurance companies
Andrew Davis
Co-owner, Attorney
Andrew is one of the only long-term disability attorneys in the country who has spent years representing both large disability insurance companies and individual plaintiffs, a unique attribute benefiting his clients. He started his legal career at a boutique firm in New York City where he developed expertise in disability insurance and ERISA laws, while supporting individual plaintiffs in their fight to secure benefits. It is here that Andrew had an opportunity to win a precedent setting case in the field of disability law. After a few years, Andrew decided to make a geographic move, taking his experience to the state of Maine where he joined one of the best national disability firms in the country, supporting large disability insurers. Here he learned the craft from the insurers’ point of view, honing his knowledge of ERISA laws and developed a keen understanding of how large insurers approve or reject claims and the diligence necessary to win.
Dissatisfied with helping billion-dollar insurance companies and looking to return to his roots in the practice of disability insurance, Andrew joined a Maine-based firm. Here he used his extensive experience fighting insurance companies to create a significant national plaintiff’s practice dedicated to helping individuals secure the benefits they deserve. Andrew’s practice focused on individual care offering a high degree of personal availability to every client. Andrew routinely secured denial letters and claim files from insurance companies in support of his clients. Based upon these documents, Andrew developed an individualized plan for each client. This included supporting clients in developing initial claims and pursuing insurance companies through the appeal process, and if necessary, litigation to secure a just resolution, ensuring their clients were awarded deserved benefits.
Most recently, Andrew has built his own firm, Davis Law, LLC, where, his wife and partner, Meghan Connelly, an experienced federal trial attorney, could provide a more streamlined practice to help clients maximize their recovery against insurance companies. Andrew and his team have battled cases against every disability insurance company in the country. And, most importantly, given his defense experience, Andrew maintains excellent relationships with lawyers who work for insurance companies, and the lawyers who defend those companies in litigation. These connections foster a working relationship with the insurance companies that helps our clients maximize their recovery of benefits Andrew and his team have been highly successful in appeals forcing major insurers to pay millions of dollars to clients who were previously told they were not entitled to benefits. Once those claims are approved, Andrew and his team continue to manage their clients’ claims on an ongoing basis to protect their clients from future denials.
If we do not reverse a decision on appeal, Andrew often pursues our clients’ claims in federal court where most employee benefit claims are adjudicated. In the context of litigation, Andrew has secured millions of dollars in settlements for his clients. While many employee benefit claims settle, some do not in which case Andrew has achieved excellent results for our clients. Here are a few examples:
